2015 Breakthrough Innovation Challenge Winner Announcement

Congratulations to Team Phantologic and Team Scholars App for placing first and second place, respectively in the 2015 Breakthrough Innovation Challenge. The Challenge began in mid October when students submitted a 2-minute video describing their breakthrough idea and its market opportunity. The videos were ranked by a preliminary judging panel and seven finalists were announced on October 23. These finalists were paired with a coach to help prepare them for the final round—a live pitch to a judging panel and audience on November 18. In the final round, the judges selected the top two teams based on how feasible they believed the idea was to pursue as a business. The winners were announced during the networking reception immediately following the pitches. All finalists received $100. This challenge was organized in partnership with the College of Engineering, the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, the William S. Richardson School of Law, and XLR8UH.
