Competition Overview

The annual business plan competition is an intense and unique, semester-long learning opportunity for UH students who aspire to pursue a business venture. The competition provides mentorship, training and resources. Winners walk away with a wealth of business savvy and substantial cash prizes.

Entrepreneurs' Forum

The Entrepreneurs’ Forum focuses on a specific issue that is relevant to entrepreneurs. Panel members, who include local business executives and owners, speak openly and candidly about their experiences and perspectives related to the proposed topic of discussion.

Entrepreneurship Live

The Inspiring Innovation Speaker Series is designed to encourage creative and global thinking among University of Hawaii students. Each event features an entrepreneur, who will share their story of forging a startup, or a founder to provide insight about pioneering in a specific industry. The Series is organized by the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship, and sponsored by First Insurance Company of Hawaii.

Kipapa i ke Ala Lecture Series

Kipapa i ke Ala, meaning "to pave the way," is a lecture series that features the best and brightest experts from the world of international business to share their knowledge with students, faculty, alumni, and members of the greater Hawaii community.


PACE Chat is open to a select handful of students who show promise and interest in succeeding as entrepreneurs. These students have the opportunity to speak candidly with a guest entrepreneur during an informal lunch.

PACE Faculty Fellows

The PACE Faculty Fellows program aims to recognize and support faculty who are making significant contributions to entrepreneurship education at the University of Hawaii. 


The Professional-in-Residence is a mentorship program that connects UH students and faculty with business experts from the local community. Volunteers with expertise in law, marketing, intellectual property, and finance or venture funding are available weekly in PACE to offer their knowledge and advice.

Startup Weekend UH

PACE partners with the global non-profit organization Startup Weekend to bring the intense three-day event to campus to connect entrepreneurs, students, researchers, developers, designers and startup enthusiasts with mentors and resources. Attendees pitch ideas, build teams, strategize, collect customer validation and build a solid foundation for a successful business. 

UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge

The Breakthrough Innovation Challenge, is an entrepreneurial competition where participants pitch their innovative business idea, for a chance to win cash prizes. The purpose of this challenge is to expose students and faculty in all disciplines to entrepreneurial thinking and to bring recognition and attention to unique business ideas at UH.

Virtual Professional-in-Residence

This virtual mentorship program connects UH students and faculty with business experts by email and phone. The PACE library of more than 50 Virtual Professionals-in-Residence volunteer one to two hours of their time and expertise each month to advise on a wide array of industry topics.
