Students will present their fashion retail business plans to a panel of judges for prizes.
Join us on April 17, 2025, at the Walter Dods, Jr. RISE Center for the UH Retail Business Plan Competition. Open to all UH students, the event includes networking with the fashion entrepreneurs and refreshments. Attendees will have the chance to: - Cheer on finalists who will present their fashion retail business plans - Listen as the finalists pitch to a panel of judges to compete for prizes - Meet the fashion entrepreneurs and enjoy refreshment, while supplies last This event is a collaboration with the Fashion Design Merchandising program and the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience.

Discover how Ryan’s dedication to family, community, and innovative culinary experiences transformed his life and business. Whether you're a foodie, aspiring entrepreneur, or just seeking inspiration, this is an event you won’t want to miss!   Speaker Bio: Ryan Ching is the visionary behind Ry’s Poke Shack, a North Shore Oahu gem redefining poke with creative, made-to-order dishes like Cajun Dynamite (Cajun-style poke), Nightmarcher (reaper garlic sauce), and Lao-Style Poke (inspired by Lao jeow som sauce). Despite early struggles, including a 1.6 GPA in high school, Ryan turned his life around, earning a doctorate in architecture from the University of Hawai’i with a 3.6 GPA. During the pandemic, he left architecture to pursue his passion, launching Ry’s Poke Shack. The venture quickly grew, grossing over $500K in its first year and earning a feature on Netflix’s Street Food: USA. Today, Ryan focuses on family, travel, and uplifting his community. He was the chief evangelist of Apple, trustee of the Wikimedia Foundation, and brand ambassador of Mercedes-Benz. Kawasaki has a BA from Stanford University, an MBA from UCLA, and an honorary doctorate from Babson College.
