Charissa Tan
Charissa Tan is a medical student at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). She is active in the JABSOM community as the Professionalism Committee Representative for the Class of 2024 and serves on the board of the Partnership for Social Justice, American Medical Association/Hawaii Medical Association, and Patient Safety and Quality Improvement interest groups. She is also the current chairperson of the Student Activity and Program Fee Board (SAPFB), volunteers with the Homeless Outreach and Medical Education Project, and co-hosts the “Docs Talk Story” podcast.
Charissa attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa as a Regents Scholar and graduated with a BS in Microbiology and Psychology with Honors. She has a strong interest in interdisciplinary, community-driven initiatives and has led campaigns such as Fahrenheit73 with the Center for Tomorrow’s Leaders and Haumana Support with Medical Innovation and Design Hawaii.
