DEAN BACALZO
Dean has more than 18-years of product development experience with consumer products working for companies such as TREK Bicycles, Ryobi power tools, Newton Running, and Nite Ize. He also worked in high-tech at Intel where he focused on human factors and small component design for wafer and chip handling.
Dean worked the entire product development cycle from front-end concept generation, model and prototype fabrication, Asian and domestic factory sourcing, manufacturing, quality control, product testing, as well as product management. During his time in industry, Dean won numerous awards for innovative product designs, received two patents, and has been involved with hundreds of products that have been introduced into the consumer market.
After he transitioned from industry to academia, Dean shared his experience of product development with multidisciplinary teams that have won numerous awards and received funding to start their own businesses. He continues to share his design experiences with school departments that share his passion for engineering, music, and product design through hands-on workshops and topical lectures such as Design THINKing and high performance teams.
