BRITTANY HEYD

Brittany is a co-founder at Mana Up, a Hawai’i-based initiative designed to build the state’s next generation of CEOs in the retail and food product industry. Mana Up hosts a 12-week accelerator program to scale businesses globally and an e-commerce platform selling Hawaiʻi products to consumers outside of Hawaiʻi.

Brittany is also General Counsel at Union, a software platform recently spun out of 1776. As co-founder and Managing Director of 1776, Brittany was a critical part of taking the organization from inception of idea to scaling it into a global brand. From 2013 to 2016, she led the company’s operations including the coworking campuses, incubator program and Challenge Cup. As of November 2016, Brittany serves as 1776’s (and later Union’s) General Counsel remotely, managing the company’s corporate governance, M&A, contractual, IP, and business risk issues. Brittany has also served as an advisor to several 1776 member companies. In October 2017, 1776 merged with Philadelphia-based Benjamin’s Desk and spun out Union, a software platform to connect the world’s startup and innovation community.

Before 1776, Brittany worked on business community initiatives and outreach at the White House, led event strategy for Startup DC, and held positions at Latham & Watkins, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and Mark IV Capital. Brittany holds a Juris Doctor / Masters of Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s of Arts & Accountancy from the University of San Diego, and is also licensed to practice law in the States of Maryland and Hawaii.

Brittany lives in Maui, Hawaii with her husband and four children.
