Candide Krieger
Candide Krieger is a nonprofit founder and elementary STEM educator specializing in place-based education, curriculum development, and cultural integration in science. She appreciates opportunities to share knowledge on starting and managing nonprofits, engaging STEM strategies for diverse learners, and creating educational resources rooted in Hawaiian values and environmental stewardship.
Candide established Pāhoa Publishing in 2025. The company is dedicated to writing place-based curriculum and sharing it directly with families and others interested in hands-on, place-based learning. A recent published work, Plant Science Adventures and Hawaiian STEM workbook that inspires young scientists with a full-color workbook that blends cultural knowledge, storytelling, and hands-on science.
Candide and a team member of EduKits won a top prize in the 2024 University of Hawai’i Venture Competition. EduKits Hawaii is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is transforming 4th-grade education in Hawaiʻi’s Title I schools. The organization provides innovative, place-based STEAM kits that make learning fun, engaging, and culturally relevant. The kits align with Next Generation Science Standards and the Nā Hopena Aʻo framework, seamlessly integrating Hawaiian cultural perspectives with ecosystem studies.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in Natural Resource and Environmental Management from the University of Hawaii at Manoa; and is earning a graduate degree in Education, while teaching for the Hawaii State Department of Education.
