ENTREPRENEURSHIP LIVE WITH RYAN ARAKAKI AND JUN JO
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Ryan Arakaki is a former sponsored skateboarder. Jun Jo is a former sponsored surfer. The duo’s love of their sports fuels their passion for the action sports retail business. In 2002, Ryan and Jun, along with two partners, Todd Shimabuku and Keith Kanagusuku, launched In4mation to take advantage of a growing, yet underserved, streetwear market in Hawai‘i. The company’s name was inspired by the popular cartoon VOLTRON, in which unique characters assembled to become one indestructible machine. Similarly, the co-founders brought their varied experiences from retail, sports, and design to the table to carve a unique brand and capture a market share of fashion-conscious youths.
Ryan and Jun will speak on how the founders developed their brand and how they remain loyal to the company’s roots in the skateboarding and surfing culture while operating three stores on Oahu and one store in Las Vegas.
